in mijn werk gaat het om het terugbrengen van de dingen naar de essentie, het ontdoen van lagen, niets staat vast, je bent elke keer weer opnieuw aan het uitvinden. ik werk vanuit de intuitie, maak gebruik van het toeval, het onverwachte, van spontaan ontstane momenten, ik speel met het moment….van tevoren weet ik niet hoe het eindresultaat eruit gaat zien.
de vele impressies die we dagelijks om ons heen zien en moeten verwerken haal ik uit hun verband, ik benadruk bepaalde elementen en intuïtief zet ik alles weer in elkaar tot zich een samenhangend geheel vormt, tijdens het werkproces valt alles samen. grenzen tussen leven en werk, realiteit en verbeelding vervagen. dit leidt niet tot een lineair verhaal maar meer tot een andere manier van kijken en ervaren. de rode draad in mijn werk is de ontwikkeling, het in beweging zijn.
de drager van het werk verschilt per werk, het is een mix van analoge en nieuwe technologie. de foto's en video's gebruik ik meestal als studies, niet als eindresultaat ik experimenteer met het werken vanuit het onbewuste om dit te integreren in nieuwe technologieën, om het minder perfect, minder afstandelijk te maken, meer onaf, zoals het leven zelf.
voortdurend ben ik bezig met werken in progressie. het geheel is belangrijker dan het enkele beeld. deze zijn meestal gebaseerd op fotos, videos en schetsen die vervolgens opnieuw verwerkt/ bewerkt worden, waardoor steeds voortdurend nieuwe werken ontstaan. vanuit de chaos maak ik een samenhangend geheel, maar de scheidslijn tussen chaos en orde is heel dun.
ik werk heel direct, heb altijd mijn mobiele camera bij me, ik werk met simpele apparatuur zodat ik bij de uitvoering geen tussen persoon nodig heb. zo maak ik deel uit van het moment en kan ik wat ik maak direct integreren in diezelfde context.
het internet en niet aan kunst gerelateerde plekken spelen een belangrijke rol om mijn werk naar buiten te presenteren. voor mij is kunst onlosmakelijk verbonden met de omgeving waarin we leven en functioneren.
working from the unconscious
in my work, i focus on stripping away layers and bringing things back to the bare essentials. i work from intuition, use of chance, the unexpected, resulting from spontaneous moments. at the beginning of the creative process, i don't have a clear picture of the end result.
i take the many impressions that we come across in our daily lives out of their context and emphasize certain elements. then i intuitively put the pieces back together to create a coherent entity. boundaries between life and work, reality and imagination blur, without resulting in a linear narrative but rather it invites an alternative manner of perception and experiencing. development and movement are of great importance to my work
the media i use vary from photography to video and from animation to digital image compositions in which i often mix analogue and new technologies. i usually use the photos and videos as studies instead of end result. i experiment with working from the unconscious and integrate this into new technologies such as photography and video which, to me, are often too perfect, polished and distant, instead, i want them to reflect life, with all its imperfections and unfinished business.
continuously i work with change and progression. i consider the whole to be more important than a single image and therefore i often reuse or manipulate my existing photo's, video's and sketches to create new images and artworks. with my works, i try to create order in chaos, while keeping in mind that the two are only separated by a thin line.
always i carry a mobile camera with me and the equipment i use is simple, so that i get to work straight away and don't need assistance. because of this, i can be part of the moment, the instant in which a situation presents itself and the work can be directly related to the context.
the internet and other sites and locations that are not directly related to the artworld play an important role in the presentation of my work. because i feel that art is inextricably linked to the world in which we live and function.
